What this policy covers
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. Browser storage (local storage and session storage) works a similar way but is not sent with every request. This page lists everything we save in your browser, who sets it, and when. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with the information itself.
How consent works here
- Every page starts with Google Consent Mode v2 set to "denied" for ads and analytics.
- Google Tag Manager (container
GTM-MV6Z39VR) does not load until you click "Allow cookies." Every third-party tool below lives inside that container, so none of them load either. - On your first visit you see a banner with two equal buttons: "No thanks" and "Allow cookies." Either choice gives you the same site.
- We remember your answer in local storage so we do not ask on every page.
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as "No thanks." No banner, no tags.
- "Do Not Sell or Share My Info" in the footer clears your answer and shows the choice again.
What we store ourselves
These are set by realtalksurrogacy.com, not by an advertiser. None of them are cookies.
| Name | Where | What it does | When it is set | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
rt_consent, rt_consent_at |
Local storage | Remembers whether you chose "Allow cookies" or "No thanks," and when. | When you answer the banner. | Until you clear site data or change your answer. |
rt_pid |
Local storage | A random ID that links your quiz answers to your profile in our database. | Only when you open the qualification quiz. Never on a plain page visit. | Until you clear site data. |
rt_quiz_data, rt_app_data |
Session storage | Holds your quiz answers, and application details if you apply, while you move between steps. | During the quiz or application. | Deleted when you close the tab. |
Third-party tags (only after you allow them)
All of these load through Google Tag Manager and only after you click "Allow cookies." Each company sets its own cookies and follows its own privacy policy. The cookie names below are the ones these tools typically set; the companies can change them.
| Tool | Company | What it is for | Typical cookies |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Tag Manager | Loads the tools below. Sets no cookies on its own. | None | |
| Google Analytics 4 | Counts visits and which pages people read, so we know what to improve. | _ga, _ga_* |
|
| Google Ads | Measures whether our Google ads led to a quiz start. | _gcl_au |
|
| Meta Pixel | Meta (Facebook, Instagram) | Measures Facebook and Instagram ads. | _fbp, _fbc |
| TikTok Pixel | TikTok | Measures TikTok ads. | _ttp |
| Pinterest Tag | Measures Pinterest ads. | _pin_unauth |
|

We never send your name, email, phone number, or quiz answers to any of these tools.
